Subject: Pro Gold i2 3.xx System Requirements
Last Modified: October 16, 2013
Applies to: Pro Gold i2 3.xx
Purpose: This section provides an overview of the requirements for installing and maintaining Pro Gold i2 3.xx onto your computer. If Pro Gold i2 3.xx will be installed onto a multi-user system, you will need your computer support technician present for the installation.
Summary: The system requirements are listed below:
Desktops - Microsoft Windows XP, Vista (32 and 64 bit)
1 GB of RAM recommended for Desktops:
- Note: For a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) interface, designate one computer to process the MLS feeds.
- It is recommended that this computer have at least 2 GB of RAM
Servers - Windows Server 2003 R2 and 2008 R2:
4 GB of RAM minimum recommended for local and remote Server Environments.
Pro Gold i2 will install on less than 5 GB of hard disk space. Good computing practices would require client to maintain minimum 20 GB of available hard disk space on the computer that houses the database, or a workstation that is running an MLS feed. More disk space may be necessary for some MLS data/photo imports.
SVGA monitor supporting 1024x768 screen resolution
CD- ROM or DVD drive
Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
Internet connection
Laser or ink jet printer (DOT MATRIX NOT SUPPORTED)
Pro Gold i2 requires access to Taro Systems, Inc. server in order to operate correctly and perform updates. In some cases, the ports required to access Taro Systems, Inc. server are blocked by a router or firewall. Ensure that the following ports are not being blocked (this may require the help of your computer tech):
- Outbound TCP port 21 (used for FTP Communication)
- Outbound TCP port 5500-6500 (used for FTP Data Transfer)
- Outbound TCP port 1433 (used for SQL Server Communication)
Backup Device
- Maintaining a copy of critical files is essential to prevent the loss of irreplaceable data due to hard drive failure, file corruption, or catastrophic loss (i.e., fire, theft, disaster, etc.)
- Pro Gold Enterprise Editions data file: ProGoldSQL, is a critical file containing all Pro Gold i2 user entered data and should be backed up daily
- In a multi-user Pro Gold i2 installation, only the shared ProGoldSQL data file used by all needs to be backed up
- Many types of backup devices exist and we have no preference for the type, but do recommend one which allows the saved data to be stored in an off-site location
- Industry research companies have noted users inability to recover useable, intact files 35% of the time when they tried a restore function, therefore, it is imperative backups be restored and verified periodically
Remote office access to data file:
- Terminal Server (TS) is recommended remote access solution
4 GB of RAM or higher recommended, more for high volume servers.
20 GB or higher of available hard disk space.
Recommend application partition of 40 GB or higher on the root drive.
Install SQL data engine on same Terminal Server for best performance.
- Other remote access options.
PC Anywhere, GoToMyPC, Remote Desktop (RDP), etc require a local dedicated PC installed with Pro Gold i2 that the remote user(s) can access and use.
Taro does not recommend a Virtual Private Network (VPN) due to database activity volume.
